TGA Director resignations & appointments

Dear Member,

The TGA wishes to inform our members of the changes that have occurred regarding the Board of Directors resignations and appointments. 

  1. As of January 31, 2019, Ed Gardner resigned from the Board.  The TGA appreciates the many years he served, first as Director and then being elected as Secretary/Treasurer in 2018.  We wish Mr. Gardner the best of luck in all his endeavors.
  2. As of today, February 1, 2019, Kevin Fulton also resigned from the Board.  Mr. Fulton served only for a short period of time, but his input was valuable as a Director and we also wish him the best of luck.
  3. The Board voted for Lee Harrington to fulfill the remainder of the Secretary/Treasurer position and President Peck appointed Laird Morgan to fulfill the remainder of Mr. Fulton’s seat, leaving one seat left to be filled.

Valley Race Parks One Day Meet November 30th, 2013

Valley Race Park (VRP) will run its one day meet on Saturday, November 30,2013.  The meet will feature 10 races with a purse of $ 10,000 each race.

A series of ten Stakes races will be held at Valley Race Park on November 30, 2013.  All races will be conducted over the 550 yard course.  Any greyhound currently racing or schooling at Gulf Greyhound Park will be eligible for entry in these events.  All greyhounds entered must comply with Texas Racing Commission rules of racing.  Upon completion of these events, all greyhounds will return to Gulf Greyhound Park.

NGA Auction tops $1.4 million!

The Friday-Saturday NGA Auction, which saw nearly $1.4 million in pup sales and another $115,000 in brood and stud dog sales (bringing the total to more than one-and-a-half million), brought a dramatic close to another successful NGA Fall Meet (Oct. 14-19) in Abilene, Ks. [Read more…]

August Texas Bred Checks

Dear TGA Member,

On July 18, 2013, we mailed the June 2013 Texas Bred Awards, but later realized those checks were printed in error, adding $10.70 to each of your wins.  In order to get the money back and reconcile the Owner Awards account, we had to take $10.70 X the number of your wins for June and deducted it from your August total. New Force for Greyhound Industry

They are the new army.

A shot in the arm the greyhound industry needs.

According to greyhound owner Dean Miner of Wheeling, adoption groups across the country as well as in Canada can bring a positive impact to the racing business.

“They are our greatest hope for our industry to flourish. Their passion is unmatched and they spend hours battling anti-racing people online and in various news media,” Miner said. “Their technical knowledge is unmatched, a lesson we in the industry should take note of. The two of us were talking one day back in May and came up with an idea. We thought that wouldn’t it be fun with the Greyhound Hall of Fame celebrating their 50th year this year and with 50 years of All-American teams to assemble a group of “experts” to vote on whom they thought was the Best of the Best from the past 50 Years of All- Americans.

NGA Spring Meet wraps up

An electrifying auction that resulted in more than $1 million in pup sales brought the curtain down on a highly successful NGA Spring Meet in Abilene, Ks., on Saturday, Apr. 27.

Final figures won’t be in for a few days, but a quick tally of the figures from the auction showed an unofficial total of $1,093,850 in pup sales from Friday night and Saturday morning. Of the 311 young pups competing at the NGA Spring Meet Track Stakes, 273 had been consigned to the sale.
