Phil Royce Kimmel of Waco passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 28, at St. Louis Catholic Church with the Rev. John Guzaldo as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m., and Rosary service will be at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 27, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel.

Phil was born July 6, 1938, in Ranger, Texas, to Harold and Annice Kimmel. He graduated from Waco High School in 1956. On June 20, 1964, Phil married the love of his life, Janice Sharp. Soon after graduation, he was employed by Waco Tribune Herald and then Temple Daily Telegram. In 1981, he became an electrical contractor and started his own business, Phil Kimmel Electric. In 1986, be became a member of the National Greyhound Association. Phil was a member of the Heart of Texas Apartment Association and in 1991, he served as the president of the association. He was also a member of St. Louis Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Francis Gail Kimmel.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janice Kimmel; his son, Phillip Kimmel and wife, Mary Ann and daughter, Amanda Betz and husband, John; three grandchildren, Matthew, Joseph and Joshua Betz.

Pallbearers are O.L. Sharp, Jr., Tommy Segars, Maurice Easter, Michael Sharp, Kevin Kimmel and Don Gaylor.
